A Study on The Clinical Practice of Department of Emergency Medical Technology


Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide basic information for the development of clinical practice discipline and to improve for the appropriateness and the effectiveness of the clinical practice in Department of Emergency and Medical Technology.
The data are collected using 45 daily practice diaries of students at a junior college who had practiced from 17, June to 27, July, 1996.
The results are as follows ;
1. The practice roles and frequencies of experienced patients with a disease are inquired. The assessment category is high(33.6 %). Pulse checked(4.85 %), body temperature checked(4.4 %) are high in the assessment category.
2. The number of experiences averaged per student through clinical learning experience are very low(Mean = 1.003).
3. In the number of experienced patients with a disease through clinical practice, poisoning(124 times) in the category of Injury, poisoning and certain other consequences of external cause(42.8 %) is high. Next, seizure(27 times) in the category of symptoms and sign (21.75 %), liver disease(25 times) in Disease of the digestive system, in order.
4. The experienced patient with disease per student through clinical learning experience are 72.67 % of the disease studied. It means, appropriate for clinical practice setting but not appropriate for practice term.
